Mission of Kroonstad Business & Tourism

Kroonstad Business and Tourism (Pty) Ltd strives to be the voice of business and individuals by acting as an official mouthpiece and Providing value added services to members, such as communicating information affecting business and the business environment, promoting and creating a climate conducive to business development as well as actively promoting and encouraging tourism activities in and around Moqhaka.

Who are we and what do we do?

We are a non-racial, non-political, non-profit Section 21-company consisting of individuals and business-minded people with a vested interest and passion for Kroonstad. Our goal is to improve both investment opportunities and growth conditions for businesses and to positively change possible pre-conceived negative perceptions of Kroonstad.

We represent approximately a hundred members at present. The operation is managed by a board of directors consisting of no more than 18 non-remunerated members from all walks in the local community, with the well being of Kroonstad at heart.

We monitor and are pro-actively involved in local, provincial and national affairs affecting business, our community and the environment. We regularly communicate with the authorities regarding matters affecting our community and businesses such as, water, sewerage and electricity issues, rates & taxes, integrated development plan presentations, tourism issues etc.

We are recognized by the Moqhaka local municipality and the Fezile Dabi district municipality as the official Tourism and Information centre and have signed a memorandum of understanding agreement with them regarding the effective provision of this service to the public on their behalf.

At the information centre, members of the public can obtain information on a variety of issues, either by visiting our office personally during office hours, via our website, e.mail or telephonically.

We host a website on which Kroonstad businesses and Moqhaka tourism product owners, who are members can benefit from its constantly increasing and widespread exposure.

We offer a credit bureau service to qualifying members who consider it vital for sound credit control.


We initiate and drive campaigns in Kroonstad like Buy Kroonstad, Keep Kroonstad Clean, The Bridge project and now also the rejuvenation of the old Town Hall, our new home.

We distribute business related information on a regular basis to members and provide small business mentorship and advice if needed.

Our income is generated through membership fees, advertisements on our website, credit enquiry fees and fundraising projects such as dinners and golf days. Our recent appointment now also enables us to apply for grants from tourism bodies for relevant tourism activities.

Where are we?

All the above services are offered from an office, manned by a permanent secretary during office hours and situated in the old Town Hall in Cross Street, Kroonstad.

Who can become members?

Anyone from a micro one-man business to an international company is welcome to join Kroonstad Business & Tourism. Property owners, residents and non-profit organizations are all welcome. We are dedicated to represent anyone that has a vested interest in the welfare and future of Kroonstad.

There are NO other institutions offering you a non-racial, non-political collective VOICE to speak out against issues affecting business and Kroonstad, and allowing you to pro-actively contribute ideas and give inputs that can benefit business and the community, other than KROONSTAD BUSINESS & TOURISM.

Your membership strengthens the collective bargaining power and VOICE of Business and Tourism. Together we can demand the service delivery and development incentives our community rightfully deserve and give meaning and substance to inputs we make on all governmental and non-governmental levels.

There is power in numbers. With you as a member, we are a collective force that is recognized, accepted, respected and listened to by the authorities and other institutions.

Kroonstad Business & Tourism provide you with a forum, which you can use as a vehicle to share positive ideas, launch projects and influence people. Through this forum you can become actively involved in contributing to a better future for business and the residents in Kroonstad.

Members are entitled to a reduced advertising rate on the KROONSTAD website, www.kroonstad.org. Members are entitled to receive a variety of information via e-mail.

Your membership fee enables Kroonstad Business & Tourism to maintain its infrastructure and provide a much needed service to Kroonstad.

Our Tourism division trades as Moqhaka Tourism and Information and therefore incorporates all the towns in the Moqhaka district, hereby increasing our input in the area.

Calendar Service:

The website offers a calendar service for events, shows, etc. taking place in Kroonstad, FREE OF CHARGE. With this service we would like to help the town not to overbook weekends ensuring that every effort is made to make a success of projects.

Alone we can do little - together we can do so much!
